Technology Has Connected Us But At What Cost?

We all know how much technology has advanced us as a race and it has also made is all become connected through a small handheld device that most of us take everywhere. So what do we pay just to be connected to our friends and family online?

Every time we log on to something it puts our personal data at risk and there is not much that we can do about it apart from making sure that we all stay safe online. If you are talking to someone online it is important that you do not share any of your personal details with them even if they claim to have known you for a long time. We say that we are much more connected now through the use of technology but that is not entirely true, yes we can message and connect with our friends that might be across the world but what about the friends you have got at home.

I know a lot of kids nowadays would much rather spend time on their phone talking to their friends or playing games than they would interact with people who are in front of them. The social skills of interacting with people who are in front of you is a very important lesson to learn as well because this can set you up through life. Now I am not saying that you reading this should take your kid's devices away from them because right now this is the only thing that they can use to talk to people and that is the most important thing right now during this epidemic.

Not only do we pay at the risk of our social skills and our private data but we also take the risk of someone cyberbullying you which is never right. Cyberbullying is become almost to frequent with the current society that we live in because anyone can say anything behind the mask of their keyboard and then they might not be able to be traced so you will never know who is saying it. I think this is the worst thing to do online and that is spreading hate throughout your online platform through the mask of your keyboard if you are going to send hate to someone make sure you put your name on it so that we all know who it is saying these mean things.

Whenever we browse the internet we always put our selves at risk of viewing something that we really did not want to look at. This includes everything from all the fake news to something that might be a lot more offensive. We expose ourselves to the propaganda online as well which is never good because there are a lot of young people online who might get roped into something that they do not want to do but might think is the right thing to do because they have seen it online.

Please make sure that you are safe whilst you are online especially in times like these when you might be spending most of your day online, remember it is important to go outside once in a while just so you know what it is like outside. I hope you all learn something whilst reading this and remember to make sure that you are safe online and as always...

Stay safe IFB
