This concept is so cool and it is being brought in through the EU believe it or not. I imagine that they will want to use USB type C as that is the most common one and it fits along with the trends of the USB which is not a problem for most phones because newer phones have this as a charging port. This could be a serious problem for Apple because all of there products use the lighting cable so they would have to introduce a type-c port to their phones and they would have to release an adapter for them which knowing Apple will be far too overpriced.
I really like the concept of having just one charger cable for all devices because that would mean that everything is compatible is you could charge your phone and your laptop and everything like that using the same cable. It would eliminate the use of all of those different cables and you would save so much money as well because you wouldn't need to buy separate cables for everything you could just use the same cable.
Type-C supports fast charging as well which means you would not lose out on the quality of a charge as well, I also think that USB type-c cables last a bit longer than lightening as well. Most MacBooks have got a USB type-c as well to charge them so it makes sense if Apple puts this in the phones as well to make it easy for people to transfer data as they can just have USB to USB.
