Due to the recent outbreak, the amount of surveillance has definitely increased and it has gone unnoticed as we are all more concerned about the fear surrounding the coronavirus. There are definitely a lot more police presents on the road throughout this epidemic maybe to make sure that we are all okay but maybe it is so that we would see them driving around and be too scared to go outside. I am not saying that there are loads of CCTV cameras being installed always watching you as there are already a lot of CCTV cameras that have been installed but the ones that have been installed will definitely be monitored more to see who is outside the house doing what.
We do not know exactly how dangerous this virus is like all of the information has been covered up and the government only tells the media what they want the general public to know. There have been talks about the development of a new app that tracks people who have had coronavirus or people who have been showing symptoms being brought out by google and apple. This suggestion leaves me questioning what information have they already got on us.
Most phone companies will keep records of phone usage and the location of the phone for if you ever lose it but these records could be seen by the government so they would know where you have been or how long you have been out of the house. This type of data gathering is called surveillance as they have gathered intel to where you have been. This is also another tactic to bring fear into our lives to scare us into staying at home.
I do not agree with any of this we should want to stay at home to save lives and protect our loved ones, not because of the fear of what might happen if we do leave our houses. But, if this is the only way that we all stay in our homes then it must work so then this lockdown will end sooner as we will all be staying in our houses bring the rate of infection down.
Make sure that you are paying attention to what apps have got access to your GPS and location services so that you can stay protected online and make sure that you are paying attention to the types of surveillance that are around you. Watch to see what the CCTV cameras are being installed in your area and make sure that you pay close attention to if your GPS is turned on and to see what apps have got access to this. As always from me...
Stay Safe IFB :)
