Jitsi Offering More Security Over Zoom & Google

With everyone being in lockdown there has been a ride in a lot of online activity. This is everything from video calling for work and just a lot of online streaming that has put a strain on the internet.

Throughout this lockdown, security has been a major issue online as hackers have got a lot of free time as well so they have got a lot of time to put into hacking your online webcam and everything like that. There were some issues raised about the security of some of these online tools that we are using to create a classroom-like environment for pupils and teachers and friends to all connect with each other. One of the biggest news stories was the fact that a lot of people where using zoom and that it is not secure so a lot of webcams and online profiles were at risk of being targeted by hackers. Obviously, no one is going to use a program if it is not secure and this is where a business has got to think how secure is my program so that people will choose to use it over other sites.

A lot of these sites like google clam to be very secure and the majority of the time this is true as they are big companies so they have got to make sure that whatever they are working on is secure and that they will want to sell a product to customers that are secure so that they do not get any bad publicity around thier program. There are a lot of online video calling sites that you can use that have been proven to be secure such as discord and google classrooms but there is also another program that has just been released that is called Jitsi. This website claims to be the most secure website offering different types of encryption that its competitors do not have.

Jitsi is offering end to end encryption which means that no one can access it unless you are both parts of the call already. This is huge as it makes it one of the most secure sites to use. That is if course it is actually using end to end encryption and it is not just a false claim to be a selling point. There is one other website that I know offers end to end encryption and that is WhatsApp. If you are going to be using video calling online then I would recommend that you take 5 minutes into looking into the most secure video calling software that you can use and make sure that if you are going to be using it then it is secure so you are going to be avoiding a lot of problems that way. If what Jitsi is saying is true and that they do offer end to end encryption then I would recommend that you use this site for online video calling as it will be the most secure. Yes, that does mean that it will be more secure than sites like google as they do not offer end to end encryption.

Thank you for taking the time to read this article and make sure you are staying safe online. As always from me...

Stay Safe IFB :)
