This is a good idea as it means that someone can not send out loads of adverts and that they can monitor who is posting adverts, this will still kind of stop spam but I do not think it will work. The reason why I do not think it will work is that 1 person can still put out a lot of adverts, requiring someone to confirm their identity does not stop them from spamming it just puts a face to the name.
This requirement to confirm your identity will only stop the robots but I am sure it will not be long before someone is selling accounts of verified people so that people can still set up their bots to these accounts and still spam adverts. I have seen some very not safe for work adverts recently on youtube and it just leaves the question for who is responsible, with this verification they will be able to see who is posting adverts.
Google will have to make sure that they are keeping these identities of the advertisers secure otherwise if they get leaked it is like someone having your driving license. If these verified identification accounts get leaked then this would be another massive security floor in google again. Usually, accounts are secure but if one account gets leaked then hackers could have access to millions of people's identity, and then a countless number of identity fraud could happen which would all be a result of google.
There could be a lot of problems around this especially with the data protection acts as google will have to keep track of all of these secure accounts and you have got to question where is your verification going. Will google be keeping it safe and secure in one of its online vaults or will they just sell this data to some Russians to make a lot of money at the expense of its users.
What do you guys think is this a good idea to stop spam or will this just increase a lot of security problems for google and would you trust a big company not to sell your identification to make some money. As always from me...
Stay Safe IFB :)
