Smart Being Stupid

I was always told by my old boss that it pays to be the dumbest man in the room. I never understood that properly until now. It means that if you act like you know everything then you will never learn anything new and you will always be stuck at the current level of knowledge that you have got. 

It pays to be smart but it does not pay to be a smart-arse just because you know a lot about something that does not mean you know everything there is always so much more to learn. If you know something or you have more of an understanding around a subject then instead of being a smart arse about it teach people who do not understand to make it better for them. If you walk into a room and be the smartest person in there you will never learn anything but if you walk into the room and act like the dumbest person there then you might get taught some serious life lessons.

A room can be filled with geniuses but it is only as smart as its dumbest link, so if you become the dumbest link people can teach you about it and you might learn something new. Just remember that just because someone says something really intelligent does not mean that they are correct to make sure that you can fact check them as soon as possible. There is always opportunities to learn something new so just don't take them for granted, try and set a task to learn something new every day and as always...
